Bill Sheka - Baffin Bay/Land Cut
Date Fished: 05/07/05 Water Temperature: 73 Water Clarity: chocolate brown
Bill Sheka guided Edward and I Saturday. He took us to the end of the land cut and fished about the 22 marker. We were facing some of the worst conditions - 40mph winds, bad croaker (if not bruised then dead), chocolate bays, and rough water. Despite all the conditions, Bill Sheka managed to put us on some nice lunkers. Edward ripped into some monster trout, he had a great day on his birthday. I had a great day as well. if we weren't fishing, we were casting, if we weren't casting we were moving to another destination. We only drift fished around a mile radius. We didn't have to move to far to keep up with the fish. Sometimes the fishing got slow but once you moved you were right back on them. We managed to catch all keepers, not one fish was thrown back (except the very first fish that bill caught, he caught the famous hardhead but called it the grey marlin - we teased him on this one). I have never fished were I didn't at least catch one dink. in all we got 14 good size keepers and 6 beauties adding to 42lbs. We had an assist on our biggest fish. The biggest fish went around 5lbs and 24" 1/4. Bill hooked it and said "This one is nice, Take it Stephen. But you better not lose it." Bill was so happy, he wanted us to limit out so bad so he was estatic when we did. He wanted to win the contest. At first I didn't know what he was talking about. He kept saying "even if we don't win, we have an awesome stringer. This is the best day I have had with clients all this year." I finally found out what the winning was all about when we got back to the marina. They take the biggest catch and take a picture. Then they put your picture on their website as catch of the day. When we got back to the marina they said we had the best catch and they posted up our fish and took our picture. They still haven't put the picture up yet - its still on 05/01/05.

Boy! That's an awsome stringer! Gray Marlin is pretty funny I might have to change my nickname.
