Laguna Madre, Corpus Christi, TX.

This day was one of the most memorable fishing trips ever. Not only was I with my favorite person to fish with, (my brother) but I caught the biggest black drum in my life. It was 37 inches and about 25+ pounds. I would have been just fine had my luck ended there, but what really made it special was that Sam captured this experience on video. Oddly enough our luck didn't start out that great. We left the anchor at home and spent an hour of wasted time at Humble Channel without a bite. When we finally decided to head back down the Laguna Madre, it was about 9:30 and we tied off to buoy #45 on the main channel. Within 20 minutes I was in the fight of my life, and Sam rushed for the video camera to capture the epic experience. The video will speak for itself, but this overgrown drum wasn't the only fish we caught. Sand trout and croaker were abundant but all seemed small in comparison to the drum so they got released. Needless to say... we had a blast!!

"Two groups set out on an adventure that is promised to be filled with fun and fish" or "Cold and Wet". Only one could be the title for our trip.

I can tell you that it was hardly filled with fun and fish, but we did have a cold and wet adventure. My wet clothes and wind burned face can tell you that.
I loved that I got to fish and we did actually catch fish, but the weather gods were against us.

Lesson 1: never to go to fork until late April.
Lesson 2: if you don't follow lesson 1 bring heavy duty ski mask, gloves, underwear and thick socks

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usWent out solo this morning and managed to hook 5 with one three pounder. All were caught at the one eye willie spot. I landed two using a white spinner and the rest were caught on the edge of hydrilla using a baby ring fry. The sun was out and no wind, so I headed in around 10:30.

Went out early this morning with my buddies Beau and Ty. We tried reaction strikes using spinners and a frog, but only Beau managed to catch a small one by our 10lb spot. We tried a different area by the marina where I managed to land two and Ty caught a nice 3 pounder. Around 10 we picked up Stephen and headed back to the 10lb spot, but my trolling motor went out and we could only anchor. Ty managed to get another good one before this happened. So, we decided to try a new pont and just anchor and cast. I managed two more one being a 3 pounder also. All in all it was a fun time being out on the lake.

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usWas a beautiful day on the lake with three friends and a hunger for some big bass. We noticed on the way to our first spot there were feeding sand bass breaking the water so we started off with some fun and caught about 20 small ones. We then headed off to our next spot and located hydrilla. I managed a couple of nice ones right off the bat, and so did everyone else. Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usUnfortunately they were not the size we were looking for so we headed out to other locations and didn't find the grass. We then headed back toward the first spot, but went on the opposite side where the biggest bass I have caught hit my spinnerbait. The funny part was that I fought it for a few seconds and then jumped off. I was so pissed that I yelled at the sun gods and threw down my lure. As I raised my rod I saw the bass come out from the cover and hit it again. I had it this time. 9-10 pounder in the boat with my buddies watching.
