There was not much wind today and partly cloudy--Started around 7:30 this morning right off of lynn creek marina and caught a couple of nice keepers --I then moved to Ty's spot and landed two more and had a rare hook off on a nice 5+ pounder--man was I pissed, but I knew the hook was not on right and I knew he was gonna jump. Oh well, sometimes the fish needs to win the fight. Around 9:30 it started dying and I moved to my spot and landed two dinks. I used a white spinner bait and fat albert grub. Later the wind picked up and I wanted to try to find the brush piles I hear so much about but I could not find one. Anyone wanna show me?

Went to Fish Pass again and talked with leaving fisherman then tried Shamrock cove again, but there were two many waders and finally fished from 10:45 am-1:00pm with friends and family. The weather was the same as yesterday and my brother suggested we try wading out past mud bridge in Oso Bay. Nice size croaker were good on dead shrimp, the reds and trout were fair on live shrimp/mullet on the bottom. There wasn't any wind and wished I brought my top dogs from the truck.

Mustang Island & Corpus Christi Bay, Texas

Date Fished: 10/16/04 Water Temperature: 72 Water Clarity: 0
Went out around 8:00am to Fish Pass Jetties. The weather started off looking like it would be a calm day and might be able to use top dogs, but just as we arrived the wind had picked up and the tide was pretty low. The water clarity made it almost impossible to catch mullet in the surf although after an hour I could see bait fish everywhere. We decided to take our bait and try a quick drive to Shamrock Cove and wade. The fishing was again slow today and I didn't catch one thing but my buddy caught a nice 17" fat trout and the only keeper today.

Nueces Bay & Corpus Christi Bay, Texas

Date Fished: 10/15/04 Water Temperature: 70 Water Clarity: 0
Went out to back bay about 10:00 am with my family and didn't manage to hook on to any reds or trout, but caught everything else. My father-in-law caught 3 sting rays and a jack cravelle freelining live shrimp. Since the fishing was poor we moved to Corpus Christi bay behind the Lexington battle ship. There my brother managed a good size jack and I landed a long ribbon fish. Everyone I talked with down in CC say the fishing has not been good this past month.

Nice One! Posted by Hello

Went out around 7:00am this morning after hearing good reports on the pool-The winds were about 12-15mph which made it tough keep the boat in control with the trolling motor. It was the first clear day after the cold front that came in this passed weekend -I don't think I will ever fish another clear day after a cold front. I only landed 3 little dinks on spinner and jerk bait and my buddy stephen landed 3 bass and 1 keeper crappie. 2 bass were dinks but the third was a nice 2-3 pounder he was fat for 16 1/2". I didn't see the activity I was a few weeks ago. There were very few bass splashing and very few bait fish to locate. Usually on the pool you see both of these around hydrilla, but it was very minimal today.

My brother got back from Big Shell and Little Shell North Padre Island Beaches - famous spots located inside the Padre Island National Seashore for great fishing in a less crowded area and where you can catch the big ones. Four (4) wheel drive vehicles are a must after a certain point 12 miles south of the beach which is noted by a large sign. It's best to drive during low tide the night before { bring camping gear and cast net} drive back during low tide the following day. Unfortunately it was a ugly weekend with rain and 20 mph winds. He only managed one 33" Red Drum using live mullet.

Great outing today. Launched about 4:00pm with a nasty overcast, but lucky there was no wind because my trolling motor was not charged and useless. I decided to use my oar and paddle around next to some grass and threw a silver yellow magic in and around light areas. It was a hoot watching the bass hit those top waters. Sometimes they would hit the second it hit the water or jump past the lure. The lure stopped working around 6:00 when the wind picked up and I switched to spinner bait and caught a few more working the same areas. All in all a good day out on the lake.

Fish Pass Jetties -Located on the beach next to Mustang Island State Park, this short jetty gives anglers a high and dry perch to fish the gulf surf. The basic angling style is dead bait on the bottom, but live mullet or shrimp works best. I used red/white top dog and caught a few spanish mackeral and one red. Because the jetty extends beyond the breakers, it often allows anglers to fish calmer, clearer and more productive waters. Great place to use your polorized sunglasses and cast net.
